The Prodigal Bear Returns!!!!

After hearing the agonizing news of his surgery, sitting in waiting as he recovers, and seeing his explosive performance down in AA Corpus Christi over the past week, it's finally happening. You all know what I'm talking about....

....Late last night, the Houston Astros activated your people's champion and mine, Evan Gattis from the 15 day disabled list, sending infielder Matt Duffy to AAA Fresno to make roster room. I do want to start by wishing Duffy all the best, as I know first hand how awesome he is. He's gonna do well over in Fresno.

But back to topic: EVAN GATTIS IS BACK, YA'LL!!!!

My happiness level has skyrocketed since hearing this news! Some of you just have no idea how much happiness I'm currently in possession of. It's almost mind-boggling. Of course, with the happiness also comes the frustration of having to deal with the bear haters. And boy, are they out in full force:

Oh, and they're coming after me, too!

Listen up, Preston Tucker fans! Seasoned veterans almost always get first crack at lineups to sophomores. That's just the reality. Yes, Tucker is doing well right now. But to assume that will be the case over the course of the ENTIRE 162 game season is asinine and ludicrous. I've even accepted that Evan will slump at times as well. These players are also human beings, lest we forget.

I like Tucker too, and given that two of the outfielders (Gomez and Springer) are in batting slumps, there is plenty of room to insert him in their places, should the need arise for it. I happen to believe it will. Stranger things have happened in baseball.

So before you all go hater raining on the Gattis return parade, you really need to check yourselves. Besides, so many out there believe strongly in what Evan does for this team. Including, most notably, his own manager and skipper:

From Jake Kaplan of The Houston Chronicle:

His presence will be good for us," Astros manager A.J. Hinch said. "It makes us closer to full strength of what we expected to start the season (with). ... We're going to continue the catching development program for him and keep that alive. He won't catch (Tuesday), but he's going to continue to do his drills.
".. .He can put a point on the board any given swing. Where he fits in our lineup, how often he fits in our lineup, what position he plays, is all going to be determined. But he makes our team better."

He makes our team better! - An actual quote from the skipper, folks!
Not to mention, video footage of Carlos "Showrrea" talking about how excited he's gonna be to have Evan back on the team:

It is clear how valuable El Oso Blanco is to ANY team he's on. Many of us, including yours truly, really believe strongly in what he can do. A.J. Hinch believes in him. Carlos Correa, and by extension the whole Houston Astros team, believes in him. Maybe you critics, doubters and haters out there should believe in him too!
