Communication Breakdown

So more debunked Astros rumors circulated yesterday when a supposed deal to get Edwin Encarnacion signed was not inked in or made official. The team still remains in the hunt for the slugging first baseman, but so are at least 3 other teams from all accounts. It just goes to show how ulcer-inducing the hot stove off season can really be on us fans. Hence, my use of yet another Led Zeppelin reference.

Along those same lines, too many trolls and even beat writers are trying to make outrageous assumptions that a potential signing of Encarnacion would mean an imminent departure of your people's champion and mine, Evan Gattis. As I stated before in past posts, I will make it my absolute duty to ensure that such talk is contained like an epidemic. And that the instigators of such nonsense will be called out to the fullest extent that my voice, real or figurative, can carry.

Today's culprit happens to be Joel Sherman of the NY Post. He is credited with the following piece he released just today:
I, of course, had to respond: (Parents, turn your kids' heads away from the computer screen on this one.)

@Joelsherman1 1. If they felt any need to get a full time DH bat, they would have bought him out for 100K & let him go to free agency.

@Joelsherman1 2. Rarely does any team exercise an option on a player and then trade him. The haul would have to ENORMOUS!

@Joelsherman1 3. They only got McCann as a Castro replacement. They still want Gattis to backup catch and DH, & THAT's WHAT HE'S GONNA DO!

@Joelsherman1 4. Lunhow would be a fool to give up his club home run leader for two seasons in a row since acquiring him.

@Joelsherman1 5. Even if they get Encarnacion, he solves the 1B problem. NOTHING ELSE! Especially, not a full time DH.

@Joelsherman1 6. McCann and Gattis are platooning catching and DHing.

@Joelsherman1 7. No catcher in the Astros' farm system is even remotely ready for the major league level, even to backup McCann.

@Joelsherman1 8. Because of #7, they need Gattis around to increase the offensive production they need at the C spot.

@Joelsherman1 9. Bruce isn't needed because of the outfield logjam, and Wheeler is not an elite enough starter.

Let these tweets continue to serve as a warning to anyone out there, be they writer or fan, that crosses me when it comes to El Oso Blanco. Having an opinion is one thing. Rubbing it in someone's face like a baby's diaper full of poo is quite another. And I'm not about to keep stomaching it any longer!

I've already mentioned in too many previous posts why this will not happen, and yet too many folks out there refuse to listen. Because of that, this metaphorical teacher is gonna be flunking a lot of folks in the form of blocking measures on my social media. If so many are unwilling to educate themselves into the real situation that the Houston Astros are currently in and striving towards, then I will no longer allow these people to remain in my metaphorical classroom.

I'd hand out dunce hats right now, but that would be impossible. So I'll just keep forward in my Gattis trading quarantine. Hopefully, my soul won't be completely sucked out of me like a dementor. Yes, my Harry Potter geek just showed itself, and I really don't care anymore!
