Start Spreading The News!

They're leaving today. They're going to be apart of it in NEW YORK, NEW YORK! Actually, the team left yesterday and are playing today. But you get the idea!

And yes, readers. I am paraphrasing and referencing lyrics from the hit song by none other than the chairman of the board, Frank Sinatra for my post title today. But it just feels right, when you consider that the Houston Astros just completed a two game sweep of the Atlanta Braves yesterday. They are now in the Big Apple for the first time in 2017 to face the pinstripe boys of the Bronx, the New York Yankees. With both teams riding some serious win records, it's bound to be quite the 4 game match up.

Further good news for the spacemen, as of right now, they have the biggest divisional spread among first place teams around the league. They also have the most wins of any AL team, and the third highest winning percentage to both the Baltimore Orioles, and the New York Yankees, whom they are about to face through Sunday.

All cylinders have been clicking. The pitching has kept the team alive, and the offense continues to be a juggernaut. So much so, in fact, that EVERY position player is hitting above the .255 mark. That has not happened for the Astros in quite a while, and in the midst of all these wins, it has been the biggest of all the fresh airs that come about.

A big part of this offense has been, no surprise, your people's champion and mine, Evan Gattis. He, along with his backstop brother, wonder twin, and #BearSquared partner, Brian McCann continue proving just how much they are the best catching tandem in the entire league on both sides of the ball. Though he did go without a hit in yesterday's scrimmage with his former team, El Oso Blanco did draw a walk, and had this nice strike em out, throw em out double play in the first inning.

Moreover, the Braves media have this nice piece done by Fox Sports interviewing the #BearSquared duo on facing their former team together for the first time:
Despite them currently being Astros, it's incredibly commendable for both of these fellas to show appreciation to the team that gave them their starts in the major leagues. It's just one of many reasons that I continue to admire the both of them to this day. My sincerest hope is that these two will be able to have a place in H-Town for a while.

Another hope I have is that the Big White Bear will get some more playing time. I don't want his previous 0-for-3 against Atlanta to some how be another demotion factor for any reason by A.J. Hinch or Jeff Lunhow.  If anything, his struggles in the previous game should be an indication to keep getting him in their more often. He has more than "earned it," so the team needs to deliver on a promise Hinch made back on April 19th.

In case you don't remember that exchange, permit me to remind all of you!:
“I’ve got to work harder to get him some more regular at-bats,” Hinch said. “It’s been hard with the DH spot going to Beltran most of the time. … I know when he warms up and starts getting some hits, the power’s going to come. He can do a lot of damage, but the two-out base hit to right — it’s hard to keep the ball fair inside the first baseman — proved to be a pivotal run as well.”
Hinch's own words, folks. On the record evidence that I am not just some crazy obsessed fanatic. I actually do know what I'm talking about. Just like every other player, there are things he can stand to work on. But if not given enough time to get out there and play, he may not have that chance. And believe me, he can use every chance and opportunity that can possibly be mustered right now. Given that he has THESE kind of numbers in only 72 at-bats and 82 plate appearances right now...

.292 BA
.852 OPS
3 HR, 16 RBI
8 walks, 14 strikeouts
138 wRC+

....a promise needs to be kept by a certain skipper. Let's just hope that he is really a man of his word. Only then, can I spread some different and more positive kind of news. Should the Astros make it there, they'll literally be able to make it anywhere. Right now, I'm predicting at least a split by the two best teams in the American League. But it's up to you, New York!

Late Edit: Gattis is out of tonight's lineup. Seems the promise isn't being kept tonight. How wonderful! 😠

This team has the best chemistry I've ever seen. The bear is a big part of that as well, so they need to play him more!!!!
