Fill Your Eyes....With That DOUBLE VISION!!!!
Yes readers, I used a Foreigner reference. I happen to like that band a lot. But it is also to help describe today's post.
The Houston Astros won their first road series in quite a while, snapping a very long road losing streak. In nabbing 2 games out of 3 from the New York Yankees this past start to the week, they improved their win column by 1 over last season's number and increase their lead in the AL West to 5 games over the second place Texas Rangers.
But that's not all....
Your people's champion and mine, Evan Gattis has been on a bear tear! (Like how I turned that phrase?! Stick around! I got more!) In this past Yankees series, he has hit three solo homers in the final 2 games the team ended up winning. In the past 15 games, Evan has been hitting in the .300's again with an OPS above 1.000 and an OBP near .340 in that stretch.
And then there are the records he has now set....
1. Wednesday marked the 5th multi-homer game of his career.
2. He now ties the Astros club lead in homers at 22 with infielder, Luis Valbuena.
3. He tied a single season record in homers at 22 that he set last year with the Atlanta Braves. (sigh)
4. He has now broken a single season record in RBI set in his rookie season with the Atlanta Braves (sigh again) at 65. He now has 69 and is still leading the Astros club in that category, as well as with his 9 (yes, you're reading that right!) triples.
You can see a nice recap of that final game in this past Yankees series, along with Evan's two homers, in the following video clip here:
It is becoming abundantly clearer everyday that this Houston Astros team is destined for greatness. All of the pieces, with a couple of exceptions, fit together very well to create the best baseball chemistry I have ever seen in my lifetime.
H-Town, something special is about to happen in your city. I can feel it!
