Back in 1st Place....And IT FEELS SO GOOD!!!!
Yes, I did go slightly melodic with my post title. But let's be honest, after the skid just prior to the All-Star Break, having the Houston Astros back in first place with a padded cushion of a 2 game lead feels pretty sweet right about now!
And it was done so in lively fashion. Between Scott Kazmir's gem of a pitching outing in his debut at Minute Maid Park, plus the Jason Castro 3-run walk off homer equals the formula for a comeback of the ages against the Halos. The hope here is that the Astros have finally gotten enough into the heads of both the Angels and Rangers that they are, in fact, a true postseason force to be reckoned with.
Just check out the mob scene after the Castro homer, here:

It becomes more and more evident each day exactly how much tremendous chemistry this group of gentlemen have in giving this game everything they have. The camaraderie of this club is unlike anything I have seen before in all of the years I have been a fan of this sport. Not only are they going to go far this season, but in many to come.
Oh, and it should be noted that Evan Gattis himself threw his hoodie into the stands, and a fan caught it and tweeted a pic of it:
The energy and excitement happening in H-Town is the stuff of fairy tales. It is because of this that I, like many others, are a little on edge as to whom else might be traded before the 4EST/3CST trade deadline. So many things are working already, that it is hard to say if anything or anyone else could make this team even more better than it already is. Aside from dealing for closer Craig Kimbrel, which it is uncertain if the deal can even be made, this team already seems to have all the right pieces.
But it appears as if all in Astros Country will have to wait this out. Of course, as Tom Petty says: "The Waiting is the Hardest Part!"
One thing is for sure: The real people's champion is, or at least should be off limits! And here, along with the hoodie pic, is more proof of why:
Once again, I rest my case!!!!
