Ever since I began this blog, I have been met with small support and massive opposition. It hasn't been easy at times, but someone has to provide a voice of support for Evan Gattis staying in Braves Country. I have so many reasons why this needs to be, but mostly, this team needs a player that can be rooted for, as so much talent has already been sent away to other teams. Now, with the signing of AJ Pierzynski for a 1 year deal, the growing tension of burden is becoming harder to carry.
Baseball media have been the worst about all of this. Even now, I still see headlines such as these:
The Case for Trading Evan Gattis - Revisited
Braves daily news digest 12/23: Is Evan Gattis next to be traded?
Beat reporter Mark Bowman answers questions from Braves fans
What's worse is we have yet to hear from Evan himself about all of this. I'm all for him being a dignified class act in not causing any extra pressure. But does anyone in this Braves organization or other fans across Braves Country consider or care at all the kind of pressure that HE himself must be feeling about all of these trade talks?
If there is anything I would want for Christmas this year, it wouldn't be presents, or cards, or sweets. I don't even expect a visit from a jolly old man. (Please avoid sending Mark Bowman anywhere NEAR my chimney! Or house, for that matter.) My biggest wish is that the Braves organization MAKE THIS STOP! Do we as Braves fans have to suffer through letting another talented player and all around good man go to another team, while we continue to suffer in a masked "rebuild" of mediocrity and thugs such as the likes of BJ Upton and AJ Pierzynski?
It sometimes feels like I and other El Oso Blanco fans keep having to ask; "John Hart, May I?," a play on the old "Mother, May I?" game. Whatever the reason, this whole situation is causing way too much heart ache, pain and stress on fans, especially me. Braves organization, hear my Christmas plea, and....MAKE THIS STOP!!!!
