Pictures Worth More Than 1,000 Words

Yesterday was picture day for the Houston Astros. That day where, before taking to the field, the players take to the studios to get their close ups. Thanks to the team's official Facebook page, we were able to get a first look at some of your favorite players saying, "Cheese!"

Here are some of the ones they posted. Enjoy, fans!:

Cy Young Winner, Dallas Keuchel looking to build on his stellar 2015 season!

Outfielder, Colby "Jack" Rasmus. Could easily see him batting cleanup this season.

Newly Acquired, Doug Fister. The 2016 Comeback Kid!

2015 Rookie of the Year, Carlos Correa. I see him doing continued wonders in his sophomore season and beyond!

Mikey No-Hit! (aka, Mike Fiers)

All-Star franchise second baseman, Jose Altuve, strutting out his pearly whites!

Outfielder Carlos Gomez strikes, and swings a pose!

Bullpen arm, Luke Gregerson. He could be battling it out for the closer's spot with....

THIS GUY! Newly acquired former Philly, Ken Giles

Utility outfielder, Big Jake (Jake Marisnick) showing his best in front of the green screen!

Lance McCullers Jr. (aka Batman) has the glove ready to take the mound! As well as this picture!

Right fielder, George Springer is taking his shoot outside!

And of course, we can't forget our people's champion!:

The Big White Bear, El Oso Blanco, Evan Gattis!!!!

Hopefully, the camera crew also got some pics of him smiling that we may be able to see soon enough. But with this picture, that gaze plus his bat should instantly strike fear into the hearts of his opponents. Pitchers beware!!!!

And as the team had down time, Evan even modeled some new gear he plans to wear. Thanks to the EvoShield Twitter Page for posting this one:

Love the shirt Evan is wearing! This dude has a terrific sense of humor!

But the fun captures and updates don't stop there, folks! OH NO! The team also tweeted out a shot of Evan taking LIVE BATTING PRACTICE (you heard right, LIVE BATTING PRACTICE!) with newly acquired, Doug Fister:

And even the team's official Instagram account released this pic of Evan doing early morning jump rope today:

The continuing good news of Evan's recovery grows as strong as he already is, and is doing, every single day that goes by. I don't know about you, readers, but I'm starting to think that El Oso Blanco just might be superhuman, or even demigod-like. But that could just be me.

Regardless, the men you see in these pictures are all individually special. But together, when their powers combine, they create an unstoppable force of a team. And that particular "force" is about to awaken again. (I know, I went geek again, so sue me!)

Those supposed "fans" on message boards and the like out there too obsessed with the future and how long particular players may or may not stay around really do need to check themselves. We live in the now, so enjoy this team while we have them. Nothing is a guarantee in life, except for the two dreaded taxes and death. So all cherish needs to be given to this organization and its players....EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM!!!!

Okay, that's enough of my soapbox there! Exactly one week from today, these Astros will take to the field for its first Spring Training game on the road against the Philadelphia Phillies. (Ironically, Ken Giles former team.) It will be quite the sight to see and intriguing spectacle to see which players will be tasked with what position. I know I can hardly contain my excitement, as I'm sure you fans out there feel the exact same way!

Disclaimer: I didn't exactly make it to 1,000 words with this post. More like around 650-700. Grab your torches and pitchforks and come and get me, readers!

Actually, please don't. That's happened to me enough in my life.

This concludes my broadcast day! (Well, this blog post, at least.) CLICK!!!!
