Altuve and Gattis: The Continuing Story of MLB's Own Mowgli and Baloo

In the midst of all the growing political tension, I feel it my duty to try and bring some light into a seemingly dark situation. So I will attempt to do just that! Hence today's post, in which I will focus on the teammate relationship of your people's champion and mine, Evan Gattis and the man in line to win this year's AL MVP award, Jose Altuve.

It is a teammate brotherhood like no other. One that I have likened frequently to the characters from Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book," Mowgli and Baloo. No, this is not just another reference to Disney, but rather to the scope of literature and story telling across the universe. That is a scope I am hoping will challenge you readers to think a little bit outside of the box. Let's take a look now at the parallels.

First, with Jose Altuve. His short stature may leave some to instantly want to judge, or even try to assert dominance over him. But like Mowgli the man cub, Altuve is resilient, strong and resourceful. Not only that, but he can tango with any metaphorical jungle "beast" that comes at him. He is an independent warrior, far beyond the realms of a child. Which coincidentally, he just welcomed his new child, daughter Melanie, earlier this month:

Secondly, your people's champion and mine, Evan Gattis. Like Baloo, he is a free spirited bear with unconventional tricks up his sleeve to solving problems or eliminating them all together. But don't let his care free nature fool you! Because also like Baloo, Evan knows when to put his level headed and tumultuous skill set to use when things seem to be in danger. And of course, both Baloo the Bear and El Oso Blanco possess great feats of strength that ALWAYS come in handy to get the job done.

You combine the two skill sets and personalities together, and a force to be reckoned with emerges. One for the story books, and even the motion pictures! (Which I happen to be working on right now, as a matter of fact!) It is my, and by extension the fan base's, hope that this symbolic force of nature will continue to thrive and will not be broken up any time soon by the Houston Astros organization. And if you don't believe me, just check this out!:
