The Farm System Already Being Built....Could Gattis Be in the Clear from Trades?

So far during this week's GM meetings in Arizona and since the start of the off season, the Atlanta Braves have signed 7 new players to major/minor league deals. This indicates that John Hart is already whizzing his way through the farm system rebuild. Here is a list of some of the players below:

Donnie Veal from the Chicago White Sox: RHP

Zoilo Almonte from the New York Yankees: Utility OF****

Pedro Ciriaco from the Kansas City Royals: Utility IF

Pedro Beato from free agency: Relief Pitcher

Donnie Murphy from free agency: Utility IF

Ryan Butcher from free agency: Relief Pitcher

Chien Ming-Wang from the Toronto Blue Jays: RHP

****The only player signed to a major league contract on the 40 man roster. Possibly to fill a bench void, or one possibly left via trades.


This is a pretty solid group, to be sure. Hart is addressing the farm restock problem early. With any luck, that means he may not need to make the big trades for JUP, JHey, or Evan Gattis. But only time will tell.
